What’s been cooking lately? Feel like having even more fun in the kitchen while learning some new skills? Chef Angelee Aurillo of Amuse Bouche Catering is hosting her first cooking class of the summer at the Antlers at Vail.
Here are the details:

Tuesday July 7th
5:30-7:30 PM
Antlers at Vail Kitchen
“Taste of Southern France”
$90 for instruction, dinner and wine

Course includes instruction, preparation, cooking and time to enjoy the prepared meal. All attendees will be supplied with a menu, recipes and a market list for the class. During the class, guest will learn about the history and tradition behind each ingredient and menu item.
(Don’t worry, the class isn’t TOO serious. There isn’t even a test!)

Menu:
Bouillabaisse de Marseilles finished with Rouille (yummy)

Seared Gascony Duck Breast served with Herbes de Provence stuffed Tomato, Bayonne Ham wrapped Asparagus finished with a Cassis Jus (that’s a mouthful)

Lavender Pot de Creme (best for last)

Ziplinin’ Antlers across Colorado Blue Skies

Darci and I had the pleasure of enjoying a day of food and festivities at 4-Eagle Ranch in Wolcott, CO this past weekend. We were treated with some good ole’ country cookin’ and ziplining. We thought it was high time we decide just how fun this activity really was; and thankfully, it was more than a blast.

Geared up (a little more snug than usual) and ready to go.

Darci was so fearless.

just at a faster pace.

Vail mountain biking

Vail mountain biking is finally underway in Vail Colorado. We’ve had quite the wet and cold spring, but the sun is finally out this weekend and the trails are drying out. Not only is the sun out, but so are the animals. On our recent mountain bike ride we saw a beaver in the river near the Antlers pool, a fox 200 meters to the west of the Antlers and four different deer up on the hill. Chris R.

There is plenty to do and see here in Vail this weekend with the TEVA Games, USA Climbing and SERAC Adventure Film School. One of the perks of being a host property is the opportunity to be a part of the action by setting up a tent on Meadow Creek Drive. With the Antlers out and about, there was bound to be followers…

Vail snow report June 5th

There is still some snow up on the top of Vail mountain, but bring your rock skis. Since the gondola isn’t running until June 13th, you have to bike or hike up this time of year. I decided to bike up. We are all pretty slow this time of the year on our bikes. The legs are a little out of shape. It takes people around an hour to bike up to Eagle’s nest (I’m tired). But I even saw a deer on the way down. Chris R.

Teva mountain games in Vail starts today

The Teva Mountain games in Vail started today with a Kayak competition over near the town of Redcliff. Lots of people (and pets) around watching the event. The welcome party is this afternoon from 4-6pm. We are all thankful that the sky has finally cleared and there is no more rain (for the moment). The Colorado blue sky is back! With all the events, the Antlers at Vail is almost full this weekend. In addition, to support the Teva Mountain games the Antlers is hosting the Serac Adventure film school and USA climbing for the weekend. Hope to see you here !

Although the hussle and bussle has slowed down, Gore Creek has been getting higher and higher everyday. Thanks to our stellar location, we have one of the best views right in our backyard. River rafting is definitely an activity not to be missed while in Vail.

Vail Lodging Improvements at the Antlers at Vail

As the snow melts and the sun plays peek-a-boo, the Antlers at Vail is still at work. Besides staying open and preparing for the summer season, our need to keep the Antlers in full bloom consists of remodeling. Currently, one of our 1 bedrooms is undergoing construction in which there will be a new kitchen, bathroom vanity, and bathroom. Because the construction continues, there are only pictures of before and now…
